Who We Are

Lisa Willek, M.ED., LPC

image5

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have worked with adults, children and families the majority of my life, in all different capacities. I have training in adult, group, family, adolescent, child and play therapy. I work with all ages, 2 to 102!  My passion is helping people heal. Healing comes in many forms, including emotional, spiritual, relational, and physical. In my experience, healing in one area affects the other areas as well. I use a heart centered, spiritual approach to helping others. Heart centered counseling is an effective and compassionate way of being with you. It helps you be able to speak from the heart, truly be yourself and discover the  beauty, strength,  and wholeness that you already hold inside of you. Together we can build a strong, safe, nurturing relationship that promotes healing and well being.

background & experience

My education and experience include:  a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas and a Master's of Education in Counseling Psychology from Texas State University, with a specialization in Child & Family Therapy.  I was licensed as a Professional Counselor in 1999 and have helped people in many different capacities since that time. My experience includes private practice, a crisis counseling center, a shelter for abused/neglected children, a residential treatment center, a counseling center working with adults, families and children, as well as an owner/director/teacher of a Montessori preschool.

children & families

Working with children is one of my passions. My philosophy in working with children is that I help the child feel that he/she is a unique individual worthy of love, respect, and nurturing. I help children feel safe by providing them with a loving environment. Because of this, they are able to express feelings and work through their difficulties during play, which results in healing. I  love working with parents, teaching them the techniques of positive parenting that can lead to healthy, harmonious relationships with their children.

Our Therapy

co-dependence & empowerment

I love helping people get in touch with the power within them.  I teach people how to set healthy boundaries in a kind way, nurture themselves, and take care of their needs without guilt. I can support you make the changes you would like to make in your life in a non-judgmental atmosphere.

grief

Another passion of mine is working with grief.  I especially enjoy working with people with cancer/illness and their family members, weather it be during the treatment process or when a family member has passed. It feels like an honor to be able to support someone through this process.

emotional freedom technique (eft/tapping)

Especially helpful alongside traditional talk therapy is a technique called "EFT" , Emotional Freedom Technique.  EFT can be used to  treat depression, anxiety, PTSD, phobias, physical pain, stress, as well as many other issues. It is an evidence-based practice that can also be used between sessions or during times of distress for emotional self-regulation.  I'm provided the following links if you would like more information on it or we can speak in person if you are interested.
